Cristina Neesham (PhD, University of Melbourne) is a social philosopher and business ethicist with extensive experience in sustainability management. She is a former Professor of Business Ethics and Sustainability (and currently a Visiting Professor) at Newcastle University Business School (UK), as well as a Visiting Professor at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (Romania). In her role as Associate Dean Ethics-Responsibility-Sustainability (ERS) and Director of Business Ethics & CSR (2019-2025), Cristina has spearheaded a business school wide strategy on Sustainability-oriented research, education and engagement with industry and the wider community. After a career as a workplace inspector in the Australian Public Service, Cristina has consulted in executive coaching, strategy and leadership for multinationals, small businesses, government agencies and NGOs.

As a scholar and public intellectual, Cristina applies philosophical methods to reshape academic and public thought about how global sustainability can be achieved, how responsible innovation in digital technologies can assist in achieving it, and how business schools can better educate ethical leaders for a sustainable future. Her research focuses on business model design for sustainable organisations. She also works in inter-disciplinary teams (computing and cybersecurity, finance and accounting, law, media and cultures, medicine, linguistics) to apply ethics and responsibility principles and frameworks in practical contexts of wide societal interest (global public health, smart homes, online media). Her work in artificial intelligence (AI) ethics addresses key policy issues in digital technology governance and regulation.
